Instagram announces new Security features for Third-Party Services

Today Instagram announced it would be updating its privacy options to give users more control over the information they share with third-parties through the app.

How to Access This Feature?

The new feature will be available on Instagram to perform the following steps to access the new security feature:

1. Log in on "Instagram"
2. Navigate to "Settings"
3. Click on the "Apps & Websites" option.
4. Here users can see which third-party services have access to their data connected to their Instagram account.

In this new page, users will be able to review every third party they've authorized to have access to their accounts and manage what they'll have access to moving forward.

“It is essential that we protect the data people share with us. We also want to give people more control over the data they share with other apps and services,” the company said in a statement.

Starting today, we’re making it easier to manage all of the third-party services connected to your Instagram account, so you have more control over the data you share with other apps and services.

Instagram will also be rolling out an “updated authorization screen” that will notify users when a third-party app is requesting to use data.
“To ensure you know what specific data third parties are requesting from you, we are also introducing an updated authorization screen that lists all the information the third party is requesting to access. You’ll have the option to “cancel” or “authorize” this access directly from the authorization screen,” the company said in a statement.
