British Airways is Testing VR Entertainment, But only for first-class passengers

British Airways is testing VR entertainment on select first class flights

British Airways is offering VR entertainment on flights

British Airways is all set to trial VR entertainment on select first-class flights from London Heathrow to New York JFK. From now until the end of the year, customers on these flights will have their own 3D cinema in the sky and will be able to watch a variety of films, documentaries and travel shows in 2D, 3D or 360° formats.
As a part of the new pilot program, the British Airways has announced that it will offer VR headsets from SkyLights but it is limited for only selective first-class flights between London’s Heathrow and New York’s JFK airports.
As reported by The Verge,  VR Entertainment program includes 2D, 3D, and 360-degree format movies, documentaries, and TV shows as well as guided meditations to help calm the nerves of those who are afraid of flying several hundred miles per hour at tens of thousands of feet above the ground.
British Airways is certainly not only the first airline to embrace VR entertainment -but it has been tested in the past by airlines like Qantas and Alaska Airlines back in 2015's - but it is the first UK airline to do so, and it's a massive name in the air travel biz, suggesting that in-flight VR could soon become an onboard pattern.
The SkyLights headsets look a lot like goggles and are a lot lighter than other popular headsets, weighing just only 250 grams.
