Google introduces UPI payment option in the Play Store
As announced at Google I/O today, Search Giant Google has now introduced Unified Payments Interface (UPI) mode of payment in the Google Play Store app. The UPI service was introduced to encourage online transactions in India. This payment mode is already available on Google's payment app, Google Pay (Tez).
The new feature will be available on the Google Play Store version 16.3.37 of the app. However, now it has been featured in updated Play Store v16.3.37. Users having this version in their mobile phones have begun spotting UPI as an option. As of now, Play Store version 16.3.36 is the latest version of Google's Play Store available on Android smartphones and the company is offering no updates to the app yet. So, it is possible that the tech giant is rolling out the functionality in a phased manner and users will get to see UPI as the payments option in the coming days.
